Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday is both confession and calling. We kneel acknowledging our mortality, and we rise recommitting ourselves to God’s work of healing the world. The ashes do not end the story. They mark a beginning—a forty-day journey of prayer, fasting, self-denial, and courageous love. We trust that God will “leave a blessing,” that even now God is creating something new within us and among us.

You are invited to begin this holy journey by receiving the imposition of ashes at Reno First United Methodist Church. Services will be held between 7:30AM & 8:15AM and from Noon-12:45PM. We will create a space for prayerful reflection. You may drop in for a short break or stay for extended prayer. Come as you are. Come weary, hopeful, grieving, longing. Together, let us tell the truth about our brokenness—and together, let us turn again toward the mercy of our Creator and Redeemer.
