DESCRIPTION:Open Sanctuary February 18- 7:30-8:15AM & Noon-12:45PM \nAsh Wednesday is both confession and calling. We kneel acknowledging our mortality\, and we rise recommitting ourselves to God’s work of healing the world. The ashes do not end the story. They mark a beginning—a forty-day journey of prayer\, fasting\, self-denial\, and courageous love. We trust that God will “leave a blessing\,” that even now God is creating something new within us and among us. \nYou are invited to begin this holy journey by receiving the imposition of ashes at Reno First United Methodist Church. Services will be held between 7:30AM & 8:15AM and from Noon-12:45PM. We will create a space for prayerful reflection. You may drop in for a short break or stay for extended prayer. Come as you are. Come weary\, hopeful\, grieving\, longing. Together\, let us tell the truth about our brokenness—and together\, let us turn again toward the mercy of our Creator and Redeemer.

SUMMARY:Lack of Talent Show
DESCRIPTION:The Lack of Talent Show has been staged each of the last 25 years. The intent is to provide a gathering of church folks to enjoy each other’s talents\, or the lack thereof. We have never turned anyone away who wanted to perform/present at this function. \nFolks do not have to be in an act- anyone is encouraged to show up and watch if they wish to. All are asked to bring some form of potluck dinner item for all to enjoy. SUMMARY:Iftar Dinner
DESCRIPTION:Our Turkish/American brothers and sisters from the Silver Sage Foundation again have invited RFUMC to host an Iftar Dinner during Ramadan. We will join together to break the daily Ramadan fast\, with SSF members providing all food and drinks. We provide the facility and help with setup/cleanup. Friends from the Interfaith Council will also attend. \nIftar is the fast-breaking meal observed each evening at sundown during the holy month of Ramadan. The Interfaith Iftar Dinner provides an opportunity for the entire community to join our Muslim friends in breaking their Ramadan fast. The event includes a traditional Middle Eastern-Turkish meal\, along with presentations by community peacemakers. \nRSVP is required for this event so that we know how many people to prepare for.
